“A Home Away From Home”

Ebenezer Gardens Girls' Home, Sri Lanka

During my school days it was my dream to run a home for orphaned and abandoned children in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In June 1997, my dream came true when Ebenezer Gardens opened its doors to destitute little girls.

The organization was registered as an Association under the Companies Act in 1996.  As required by government regulations, it was also registered as a Voluntary Social Service Organization in 2003 and with the Department of Probation and Child Care in 2006.

A house was taken on a 5 year lease and the first child was admitted in June 1997. In January 2002, Evangelical Broadcasting Organization in the Netherlands provided funds to purchase a permanent house.

Our aim is to ensure that our children are provided with the comfort and security of a normal home together with Christian nurture and discipline. Some of our children come from broken homes, some from the underprivileged segment of our society; others are with us because there is no proper parental care or safety.  Now they enjoy the privileges of a loving, comfortable home, education and  extra curricular activities. They have been taken on excursions to many parts of the island.

The first batch of girls are now grown and moved out. All three successfully passed their A/L examinations. Our very first girl was given in marriage five years ago. She is employed in the advertising field and her husband works at a Bible College. Our second moved to Bible College and is a teacher and is married to a Pastor. The third girl is also married and has a little baby boy.

At present, 10 girls reside at Ebenezer Gardens. Their ages range from 4 - 17 years.

It is our prayer that they will grow up to be God fearing gracious young ladies who will do well in their chosen fields and become useful citizens.
Should you wish to be a part of helping the children of Ebenezer Gardens please contact us.  We look forward to hearing from you..

Regular prayer support is vital for our ministry. We would appreciate your intercession on our behalf.
Ebenezer Gardens is registered as a Voluntary Social Organization and donors living outside Sri Lanka may claim tax exemption for financial contributions.  A receipt will be issued for each donation.

We also sponsor the school fees for a few children in a Christian boarding school. These girls are from single parent families and are in financial need.  Once a year we visit the North of Sri Lanka and provide assistance to war widows and their children.
